From the President: 2012 in Review

While we didn't post Under Construction signs, that's exactly what 2012 was for the Glenview Chamber of Commerce. Together with our new Executive Director Betsy Baer and new board leadership; we intentionally set out to take our solid organization to the next level.
As I was sworn in as president, I shared plans to transform the Glenview Chamber of Commerce into YOUR Chamber of Commerce, a relevant force in our local community. It's been an exciting, substantive experience and we are all grateful for the enthusiastic help and support from our members.
Our business members are committed to working in partnership with residents for the success of our community. They are the risk takers, the job creators and the revenue generators. We know that building a stronger Chamber of Commerce sows the seeds for a more robust community - attracts new quality businesses, jobs and encourages expansion. We are seeing that belief reinforced with the redevelopments of the former Dominicks and Avon sites and the Trammel Crow project in downtown Glenview.Â
Along with its new attitude, the Chamber also got a new look. All print and web materials have been redesigned. Check out our new and easy to use website to learn more about businesses, services and local amenities – www.glenviewchamber.com There's hot deals there too!
In addition to the Street Fest and Holiday in the Park and Parade, the Chamber produced more than 40 events and activities, many of them energized with new thinking and greater attendance. Our directory reached some 28,000 households (we hope you use it regularly). We added educational seminars open to residents, networking events and established special interest opportunities (such as Downtown Merchants Group and New Resident Welcome program). We helped many businesses celebrate with ribbon cuttings at their grand openings and anniversaries.
The next year is going to be our 90th year, and there is a lot planned as we continue to build on the momentum created in 2012. Call our office anytime (847-724-0900). We're not just the Chamber of Commerce but Your Chamber of Commerce! President Gregg Goslin
