Big Changes Make Fest the Best Ever

Glenview's 40th Summer Fest/Sidewalk Sale kicks off Saturday, June 29 with some big changes, including a new time—9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.—and a new location: Lehigh Avenue between Glenview Road and Washington Street.Â
The new schedule means that families can take advantage of the Fest's fabulous food (11 vendors!) for lunch and also for an early summer dinner, al fresco or at home. Among the choices: pork tacos, cannolis, hotdogs, and fresh lemonade.
The new location will introduce new vendors--including Eco Gym and Terra Sounds--in the massive sidewalk sale. Stroll up Lehigh for an entertaining walk through the best of the region's goods and services, including jewelry, accessories, and clothing, and home repair, healthcare, and pet care and services.
Some favorite Summer Fest traditions are back, of course. The Lions Club's beer tent is back. So is stilt walker Jason Kollum, who will tower over carnival games, the Kohl Children's Museum's play area for young children in Jackman Park, and even the Glenview Fire Department's mobile fire pole. (And yes, you can slide down the pole if you dare!)
Another favorite, the Annual Car Show, will feature 70 collectibles. Registration runs from 9 a.m. through noon. The show is free to Fest visitors; to show your car, the entry fee is $20. Trophies are presented at 3 p.m.Â
Don't have a trophy-worthy car? The Car Show is also running a raffle. And if that sounds too passive, the hop on over to Advocate Healthcare's jump rope contest.
Our sponsors include Advocate Lutheran General & Advocate Children's Hospital and Willow Creek North Shore.Â
